In keeping with
the belief that diversity of experience is essential
to a
well-rounded education, Wingate University provides varied
opportunities for cultural enrichment outside of the classroom.
Each year, the University sponsors a Lyceum program that includes
speakers, worship services, and fine arts presentations and
performances.
In addition to engaging
a wide spectrum of musicians, speakers, and ensembles from around
the world, the University draws upon the talents of its own music,
art, and drama departments. |

The
Lyceum Program Proposal Procedure:
The Office
of Internships & Career Development serves as the administrative
clearinghouse for the Lyceum program. Lyceum proposal request forms are
available in our office. The Lyceum proposal procedure is as follows.
Anyone seeking approval of an event for Lyceum credit MUST fill out a
proposal request form and file it with the Office of Internships &
Career
Development.
All
proposals must be submitted 3 weeks prior to an event.
The
Office of Internships & Career Development will submit proposals to the
Lyceum Committee every Monday.
The Lyceum Committee Chair will reply with the committee’s decision
(approved/denied for credit) within two weeks to the Office of Career and
Cultural Development.
The
Office of Internships & Career Development will contact the proposal’s
listed contact person through letter.
The
scheduling of student workers, printing of Lyceum cards, initial
record-keeping of attendance, and supervising of the appeals process
will be functions of the Office of Internships & Career Development. The
Lyceum Committee will consider all proposals and grant Lyceum credit
where appropriate.
