Hannah Covington McGee Theatre
The main performance hall of the George A. Batte, Jr. Fine Arts
Center, Hannah Covington McGee Theatre is equipped with the most
current technologies in lighting, sound, and rigging systems. With a
seating capacity of 550, the theatre sees well over 50 events per
year, ranging from lectures and classical music to Broadway style
musicals.
Plyler-Griffin Recital Hall
More intimate than Hannah Covington McGee, the Plyler-Griffin
Recital Hall seats 170. Frequently used for recitals, the acoustics
of this space are something to be marveled. Also equipped with an
array of multimedia technologies, the recital hall lends itself to
being the perfect location for meetings and conferences.
Anne R. Belk Music Center
Home to the department of music, the Anne R. Belk Music Center
features numerous classrooms and private studios for music
instruction. Larger ensembles benefit from an instrumental rehearsal
room and a choral rehearsal room. Students can make use of practice
rooms, a Music Resource Center with numerous scores and audio
recordings, and two digital production labs.
Austin Auditorium
Across the street from the George A. Batte, Jr. Fine Arts Center is
Austin Auditorium, a 990 seat hall. Housed within the Auditorium is
the Rivers Family Organ, an impressive instrument capable of a
forceful sound. Currently, WUTV's studios are also in residence in
Austin Auditorium.
