New for 2009-2010:

The Yellow Ribbon Program seeks to make a college education more affordable for veterans and their families. As a federal matching program, the government will match any financial aid that participating colleges provide to veterans. To qualify, Post 9/11 GI Bill begins for those who served on active duty after Sept. 10, 2001, for three years on active duty or for at least 30 continuous days before being discharged for service-related injuries. Benefits may also be available to dependents eligible for “Transfer of Entitlement.”

The program is available for veteran students who wish to take full-time undergraduate classes on the main campus. Wingate University will provide $7, 811 per year in tuition and fees. The federal government will match up to $7,811. Recipients will receive a $1,000 stipend per year for books. Veterans who qualify will receive more than $1,300 a month for housing.
