Wingate University
Founded in 1896, Wingate University is a private, four-year
comprehensive university with a liberal arts core curriculum offering 40 undergraduate majors in arts and sciences,
business, education, fine arts, music and sport sciences. Students also
can earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or pursue pre-professional programs
in pharmacy, veterinary science, medicine, law, ministry and more.
The School of Graduate and Adult Education in
Matthews offers convenient evening programs to complete a
bachelors degree or earn a masters degree in business, education or
sport administration.
The ideal size of Wingate University (2,041
students) provides a supportive environment with small classes and
personal attention from professors who know their students by name. A
majority of students live on campus in dorms and fully-equipped
apartments which add to the community atmosphere.
Wingate brings education to life as students explore their faith and
serve the community through 42 student-run clubs and organizations.
Students also gain real life experience through
internship opportunities and research partnerships. Many upperclassmen
take advantage of study-abroad programs at little additional cost.
Athletics is also an important part of the Wingate
experience. One third of Wingate students compete in 17 NCAA Division II
intercollegiate sports and even more participate in an extensive
intramural program.
Finally, Wingate University believes that no student
should be denied an education because of expenses. To bring the Wingate
experience within a familys budget, the university awards scholarships
based on academic merit, athletics, music, church and community
involvement. Scholarships for transfer students are also available as
well as variety of federal grants and loans.
