Criteria such as academics, personal record, class rank, activities and aptitude test scores are also important factors in evaluating your application.

Candidates should be graduates of an accredited high school or preparatory school. The GED (General Education Development) Certificate is also acceptable.

Wingate is on the rolling admissions system but recommends that students submit their applications for admission by April 1 to ensure space availability.

Advanced placement is available if the student presents test scores of 3, 4 or 5 on A.P. or 50 points or higher on C.L.E.P. tests. Credit is also granted for scores of 5, 6 or 7 on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Exams.

College work can be transferred to Wingate after an evaluation of all official college transcripts has been reviewed.

International Students

Wingate University’s student body represents at least 32 states and 20 different countries! We welcome you and encourage you to apply and join our Wingate community.

If you are a non-U.S. citizen, you are considered to be an International Student at Wingate University. To the right of this page are the instructions for completing the application process.

Wingate recommends a TOEFL score of 507 (paper-based), 180 (computer-based) or 64 (internet-based) for admission. We will consider the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in place of the TOEFL. The recommended overall band score for the IELTS (academic module) is 6.

Once you have completed our application process and been admitted into Wingate, you will need to pay your $300 enrollment deposit and submit the Financial Responsibility Form. (Financial aid is available for International Students, and eligibility for that aid is determined by the financial information submitted on the Financial Responsibility Form.) Once these items have been received by Wingate University, we will issue your I-20. Be sure to follow the steps for obtaining an F-1 visa. If you currently hold a valid student visa, please complete and submit the Visa Status Form.
