Wingate University welcomes back alumni for Homecoming Oct 29-31
Wingate, N.C. – Wingate University welcomes all alumni back to campus for homecoming events the weekend of Oct. 29 to reunite with former classmates and friends. Alumni reunions are planned this year for graduates from the classes of 1960, 1970, 1980, 1985, 1990, 2000 and 2010.

Homecoming weekend is packed full of events for alumni, students and their families to enjoy. Friday will feature the 35th Annual Bill Connell Memorial Golf Tournament at Eagle Chase Golf Course. The 26th Annual Alumni Awards Banquet takes place at 6 p.m. Friday night in LaVerne Banquet Hall. It will be followed by a bonfire and fireworks at 9 p.m. in the field next to the banquet hall. The bonfire festivities will include inflatable games and food.

The Alumni Breakfast, class reunions and homecoming registration will kick off Saturday at 9 a.m. in LaVerne Banquet Hall. The annual homecoming parade follows the breakfast at 11 a.m. The parade includes floats from student organizations, Homecoming Court, Wingate Fire Department, a marching band and area businesses. It will begin at Helms Residence Hall and end at Irwin Belk Stadium.

The homecoming football game Wingate vs. Lenior Rhyne will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the stadium preceded by tailgating at 11:30 a.m. At football halftime, the Wingate University Bulldog cheerleaders will host an alumni reunion in the cheerleading tent at the stadium.
