First class of pharmacy students in Hendersonville
Hendersonville, N.C. - Wingate University celebrated the grand opening of its new Hendersonville campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 25. Nearly 100 community leaders, university officials, students and alumni assembled to witness the historic occasion.

“Wingate University has an important responsibility to develop and expand educational programs that are relevant in preparing students for the future job market, and this new campus enables us to do that,” said Dr. Jerry McGee, president of Wingate University. “We have always viewed the Western and Piedmont regions as our service area, and we’re proud to now be a permanent part of this community.”

Participants in the ribbon-cutting ceremony included President McGee, Mayor Pro-Tem Jeff Collis, County Commission Chair Michael Edney, Hendersonville Chamber Chair Jimm Bunch as well as university faculty.

The two-story, 11,000 square-foot building, located at 220 Fifth Avenue, opened its doors to classes the week of August 22 for the university’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) and pharmacy programs. The Master of Physician Assistant Studies program will begin fall 2012 pending accreditation approval.
