Wingate University alum Anthony Dean Griffey receives honorary degree

Wingate, NC – Four-time Grammy Award winning tenor Anthony Dean Griffey was presented with the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters at Wingate’s University’s Commencement ceremony on May 12. Griffey has performed in numerous international opera houses including The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Glyndebourne, the Opera National de Paris and Teatro Comunale Di Firenze. He received his bachelor’s degree from Wingate University in 1990 before earning degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School.
