Wingate, N.C. – Wingate University, in partnership with AARP North Carolina, will host a debate between U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell (D) – North Carolina and Richard Hudson (R) Congressional candidate on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. in the Batte Center on campus. This will be the first debate between the candidates in North Carolina’s 8th Congressional district.

The debate focus will be health care and financial security. Key topics will be issues most important to voters age 50 plus, the nation’s most active voters, and include the candidates’ plans for Social Security, Medicare and financial security.

The debate is free and open to the public. Media interviews with the candidates and sponsors will be available immediately following the debate.
Some of the questions the candidates are expected to address include:
• How would you protect Social Security for today’s seniors and strengthen it for future generations?
• How would you put Medicare on stronger financial ground and protect today’s seniors and future retirees from the burden of rising health costs?
• How would you help Americans build a financial nest egg for their retirement?
