Wingate University announces David Burris as Commencement speaker

Wingate, NC – Wingate University has announced that David Burris will be the commencement speaker for the Class of 2011. Burris is the executive producer of the hit television show Survivor.
His parents met as students at Wingate. He is also the grandson of previous Wingate President C.C. Burris. The 115th Commencement is scheduled for May 14 at 9 a.m. in the academic quadrangle on campus.
Founded in 1896, Wingate University is a comprehensive university with more than 2,300 students on two campuses in Wingate and Matthews, North Carolina. The University offers 32 undergraduate majors, 36 minors and career concentrations, numerous pre-professional programs, graduate degrees in business, accounting, physician assistant studies and sports administration, and doctorates in pharmacy and education. Wingate students gain the tools and support they need to excel in academics and apply that learning toward an extraordinary career and life. Wingate student athletes compete in 19 NCAA Division II sports, and the University has won the South Atlantic Echols Athletic Excellence Award for the past five years.
