Wingate University awards alumni and friends

Wingate, N.C. – Ted Griffin, William Hudson and Joseph Martin Lee III, residents of Raleigh N.C., have received Wingate University’s recent alumni awards. The awards honor alumni and friends who, through professional excellence and personal dedication, have been leaders in their communities.

Griffin, who received the Distinguish Alumni Award, is a graduate of Wingate University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Wake Forest University Babcock School of Management. In 1993, he founded Griffin Financial Group, LLC. His firm is a boutique financial services entity specializing in estate planning and wealth transfer strategies for high net worth individuals.

Griffin is President of the St. Stephen’s Durham Endowment and a former Senior Warder of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

Hudson, recipient of the Honorary Alumni Award, is president and CEO of L.C. Industries, Inc., the nation’s largest employer of the blind. L.C.I operates a manufacturing facility in North Carolina, Mississippi, Kentucky and California.

Hudson is the chairman of the advisory board of Duke University Eye Center and a major sponsor of USO of North Carolina.

Lee, who received the Distinguished Alumni Award, began his career in the family business Lee Air Conditioners, Inc., in 1972 and currently serves as president. He is a member of the Wolfpack Club, Mechanical Contractors of N.C., Navy League and serves as vice chair of L.C. Industries Board. He has served on the local bank boards of CCB, National Commerce and Cardinal State Bank.

Lee graduated from Wingate University in 1969 and attended North Carolina State University. He also attended the Marine Corps PLC Program and OCS School in Quantico, Va.
