Wingate University holds Irwin Belk Track ribbon-cutting and dedication

Wingate, N.C. – Wingate University invites the public to the ribbon-cutting and dedication of the Irwin Belk Track on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. The quarter-mile track is named for Mr. Belk, a benevolent benefactor of Wingate University. This is the 41st track he has funded in five states.

Belk will attend the ceremonies which will be held at the $1.5-million dollar track and field complex on 660 N. Main St. in Wingate, N.C.

Wingate launched a men and women’s track and field program three years ago and added indoor track in 2013. This spring season, the women finished first in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region and the men finished in second place.
