Wingate, N.C. – Wingate University Soccer and International Club will hold Soccer for Charity on Wednesday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m. at the Wingate University soccer field. Faculty and students will compete in a game. The community is invited to attend. The funds raised will go to UNICEF, The United Nations Children's Fund. Concessions, raffles and an opportunity to participate in halftime games are part of the plans for the event.

Service learning is an integral component of the students’ education at the University. Students volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Carolina Equine Rescue and Assistance, Turning Point and participate in alternative spring breaks helping others.

"This is the second annual Soccer for Charity," said Junior Nyemb, graduate assistant for International Studies and event organizer. "The International Club is passionate about UNICEF and the opportunity to support children with help from the community."
Donations of any amount are welcome. Questions can be directed to Junior Nyemb at njlandry@wingate.edu. To contribute online, visit http://www.wingate-alumni.org/unicef.
