Wingate, N.C. -- Wingate University invites the community and prospective students to an Open House at the Levine College of Health Sciences on Thursday, Aug. 4 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The college is located at 515 N. Main Street in Wingate on the University's main campus.

Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the School of Pharmacy and the William and Loretta Harris Department of Physician Assistant Studies, enjoy refreshments and meet some of the University's faculty and students.

The $16-million building is named to honor Leon and Sandra Levine. Mr. Levine attended Wingate University and is founder and chairman emeritus of Family Dollar Stores, Inc. The three-story structure is the largest on the Wingate Campus and is the second LEED certified building in Union County, a standard set for becoming a leader in energy and environmental design. It also is designed to meet the highest standards in teaching with three 90-seat classrooms, two 50-seat classrooms, clinical simulations labs, decision simulation labs, a physical assessment lab, a pharmacy practice lab, an iv admixture lab, a fitness center, food service, conference rooms, and a biomedical science library and drug information center. A Subway restaurant will be located on the first floor.

Equipped with interactive distance education technology, classrooms will be linked to all of Wingate’s graduate and professional programs in Hendersonville, N.C. The additional space provided by the new building will enable the pharmacy program to grow from 72 students per class to 90 per class and the PA program to increase from 20 students per class to a maximum of 50 per class.
