Wingate University Lockdown Final Statement

At 6:11 p.m., a 911 call was placed to Union County Communications regarding a shooting on Zeb Goodman Road off East Wilson Street near the Town of Wingate. At 6:14 p.m., authorities ordered the University to be placed on immediate lockdown. Law enforcement responded and coordinated the lockdown with University officials as a precautionary measure. The lockdown was lifted at 8:30 p.m. Authorities have indicated that no University students or employees were believed to be involved in the incident.

Residence Life staff are meeting with students to discuss tonight's events.
