Wingate, N.C. – Wingate University School of Pharmacy students Blaire Upchurch of Camden, Delaware and Dustin Grant of Snow Hill, N.C. spent some of their summer working in Liverpool and Southport, England. The two students worked on a project involving auditing Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital as well as Ormskirk NHS Trust to see how they could make improvements in pharmacy services.

Seven pharmacy students participated in projects overseas last semester working in London, Edinburgh, Southport and Liverpool. Five more students are scheduled to spend their winter semester overseas. “We want our students to have a global focus of pharmacy and healthcare,” said Wingate University Associate Pharmacy Professor Phillip Thornton. “These students are really making quite an impact.”

Since opening its doors in 2003, Wingate University’s School of Pharmacy has distinguished itself nationally by the quality of its graduates, an innovative, student-centered curriculum and creative faculty dedicated to teaching excellence.
