Wingate, N.C. – Wingate University Singers were the Grand Prix winners of the Ninth Parnu International Choir Festival and Competition in Parnu, Estonia held in May. Twenty University Singers joined Kenney Potter, director of choral activities and music education, on the trip to Estonia and Latvia. In addition to singing performances in Tallinn, Estonia and Riga, Latvia, they participated in an International Festival of Choirs in Parnu, Estonia.

The choir tied for first place in the festival competition. Twelve choirs from Finland, Estonia and the U.S. competed. "I am very proud of our students, who represented Wingate and the United States exceptionally well,” Potter said. “It was an exciting time for all of us to be honored with the highest award in a country that has such a rich heritage of singing."
