Wingate, N.C. – Wingate University’s Wind Ensemble will present a free concert featuring the music of famed composer Jack Stamp on Monday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in McGee Theater of the Batte Center on campus.

Wingate University was one of 14 colleges that worked together to commission a new piece from him, "Divertimento for Solo Trombone and Band," which was premiered last month by the U.S. Army Band. The head of the commissioning group, Dr. Bruce Tychinski, performed on trombone. Dr. Tychinski will also be at the concert to perform with the Wind Ensemble on what will be the official University premiere of this piece.

“This is sure to be a fun concert,” said Director of Bands Dawn Perry. “And the audience will have an opportunity to meet these talented musicians at a reception in the Batte Center Rotunda following the performance.”

Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the premiere instrumental ensemble of the University with focus on the performance of standard and new band repertoire. Enrollment in the Wind Ensemble is required of instrumental music majors and is currently open to any non-majors and community members by audition with the director.
