Wingate Faces

Eric Richardson '01

Eric Richardson is in the process of fulfilling his world-size vision.

Richardson graduated from Wingate University in 2001 as a psychology major with a sociology minor. He earned his Masters in Psychology from NOVA Southeastern University in Florida. "I felt exceedingly prepared from my undergraduate (work) compared to other students in my cohort," he said. "Wingate did an exceptional job equipping me for graduate school." Richardson went on to earn a Masters in Theological Studies from Liberty University.

He dreams of being a missionary in East Asia. "My wife and I are in the process of applying to the International Mission Board," he said. "It's about a year and a half application process."

Mission work has always been in the back of Richardson's mind. He lived in Thailand for a year after graduate school. "I didn't know whether I wanted to do missions or be a pastor," he said. "Recently God has confirmed missions is the way to go!"

Richardson enjoyed his undergraduate at Wingate and encourages students to be willing to get out of their comfort zone. "If you want great things, you have to be willing to work for it," he said. "I'm a huge fan of the relationships that are developed between the students and faculty at Wingate," said Richardson. "Even now I can go back and see my professors and they remember me."

He is currently the director of college and high school relations at Sandhills Community College. Richardson lives in Pinehurst with his wife Melissa and children Landon, 4, and Mikayla, 2.
