Projects, Internships & International StudyThe School of
Business at Wingate University assists students with internships,
job placements, company projects and international studies programs.
In addition, selected faculty and staff provide career counseling,
resume preparation and interviewing practice. A specific course (BUS
306) is also directed at these needs with a full semester of
in-class guidance, student writing practices, cases and role-playing
exercises. This course is recommended
for all business students in their junior year.
Internships and Job Placement Assistance
The internship program has two components. The first allows
students to obtain university credit for their internships given
approval via written request prior to starting their internship.
This credit can be in lieu of other SB required courses. The other
component, and the one followed by many students, is the actual work
assignment at a business.
In addition, the university provides career counsel and placement
direction and conducts both on-campus and off-campus career days for
student participation with local companies. SB will make every
effort to help a student with his or her interviewing, internships
and career goals.
Business Projects
Wingate's School of Business will include special business
projects in our business classes as appropriate and as available
from the business community. Extensive casework and the experience
of the professors are added to the pedagogic approach to education.
In recent years, students have worked with the professors on
multiple research and operations projects at a diverse group of
companies, including Tyson Foods and Harris Teeter, and for Union
County (through the Union Regional Medical Center).
International Programs
International Study Programs (Semester Abroad)
Wingate University encourages all students to participate in
either study-abroad programs or international travel. The
opportunities available for study-abroad semester programs include
London, Copenhagen and Hong Kong.
The program in Copenhagen (Denmark International Study Program)
is especially suited for business majors. DIS offers a wide variety
of international business courses, with an emphasis on the European
business environment.
W'International Programs (Seminar Course)
For students who do not wish to spend an entire semester
abroad, Wingate offers W'International programs each semester. These
are seminar courses open to all juniors that culminate with travel
to a foreign country. The courses are offered to Wingate students at
little to no cost, so that all students are able to participate.
