Welcome!

Wingate University's teacher education program is designed to meet the North Carolina Competencies and Guidelines for Approved Teacher Education Programs. The program is approved by the North Carolina State Board of Education, The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the National
Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.

Courses are offered within a curriculum that brings together a liberal arts
education, values/ethics education, teacher behavior education, and
adaptive teaching education. The program is committed to early identification
of students who wish to seek a degree in education.

In their program of study, education majors are involved in pre-student teaching and
student teaching field experiences in the public schools.

Education majors study language, literature, natural and social sciences, as
well as the historical and philosophical foundations of education, theories of
learning, and child growth and development.
