WHAT IS THE CASA HISPANICA?

The Casa Hispánica is a new residential learning community that began in fall 2007. It is housed in the Jefferson Apartments, and features the opportunity to live Spanish on a day-to-day basis. Converse in Spanish, watch television from Latin America, take cultural and gastronomic trips, learn about study abroad, and reach out to the local Hispanic community with other people interested in Spanish and Hispanic cultures.  Maryn Heckel serves as Community Assistant, and aids the group in developing and implementing specific activities.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Any student with sophomore status or higher, a GPA of at least 2.5, and is either a native speaker or who has completed Spanish 102 or the equivalent.  Spanish House residents must enroll in at least one Spanish course per year, or otherwise be involved with the Department of Modern Languages
