English & Education
If you have always loved literature and have studied with some
incredible high school English teachers, you might be considering
teaching English at the secondary level as a potential career. Here
at Wingate University, English & Education is a double major which
will prepare you to teach English language arts through a
constructivist, integrated approach. Even before you are officially
admitted into the education program, you have ample opportunities
through field experience in some of the education classes to observe
and even teach mini-sessions in one or more of the five area high
schools located near our campus. This double major culminates in a
semester of student teaching which is coordinated by a
secondary-level master teach and your university supervisor. Our
recent English & Education majors have a 100% employment rate and
are teaching in North Carolina as well as in other states. If you
would like more information about the English & Education major,
