Honors Program Benefits:
Each spring, the new group being welcomed into the Honors Program
joins with all other Honors students in attending a formal dinner,
which is their official launching into the honors experience at
Wingate. Honors Program participants enjoy many special opportunities, not
only to hear important speakers who have been invited to campus, but
also to participate in intimate, informal discussion forums with
these speakers. During the Fall of 2009, students will have the
opportunity to have informal discussions with Wingate University’s
Woodrow Wilson Fellow, Barbara Gottschalk and our common reading
experience’s visiting author, Kris Holloway. In addition, students
also have access to the Honors Lounge in Bridges Building,
specifically designated for Honors Program use which can be accessed
with their University ID Card. Students in the program have the
opportunity to connect with upperclassmen in the program by
participating in special social opportunities and receptions for
Honors students. The honors program also gives students the
opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. in a program specially
tailored to honors students (biennially).

incoming students are encouraged to strive to be invited into one or
more of these societies.
