Well, since I last wrote, the group of us
has taken a trip to Stonehenge and Bath. My goodness! It was
merely a day trip and yet I still am not sure where to start.
For starters, we got on the road around 8:30am and spent a good
three hours on the coach. Mind you, even this was exciting
seeing as it was all of our first time truly getting out of the
city. The scenery on the drive was amazing. The countryside is
beautiful here and a definite must-see! Before we even set out
on our trip to Stonehenge we were ‘warned’ that we would be
disappointed because no one had built a museum or anything
around it. The fact is though, that once we got there and saw
the extraordinary placements of the gigantic stones, we were all
fairly pleased that no one had turned it into a tourist trap!
Unfortunately, they no longer allow the viewers to go up to or
walk through the structure, but even still, you get an amazing
view and feeling from the historical site. From there, we all
loaded back onto the coach and began up the road to Bath. The
town of Bath itself is enough to go see with its narrow streets
and great shops. But the main reason we, along with millions of
other, had gone was for the still-standing ancient Roman Baths.
You will never see anything in your life so fascinating! The
condition of it along with its ability to still run is
absolutely breath-taking and indescribable! I wish I could say
more but there just simply is not a way to express how awesome
it really is to visit there, only going and experiencing it for
yourself can do it justice. Another highlight of the trip was
the exquisiteness of the Bath Abbey that stands adjacent the
Roman Baths. Many say that the Abbey tends to be overlooked next
to the Roman Baths, but after touring the inside and taking in
its gigantic gothic exterior I personally could not figure out
how that was possible. It is definitely something that should
not be missed when visiting the town. It was a wonderful trip
and a day that I will never forget!
