Favorite International trip?
It is hard to choose a favorite international trip because every place I have visited is different  I have been to Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, and now Spain and have enjoyed each one.

Why I love to travel...
I love to travel because I love seeing new things and learning about different cultures and their histories.  Studying abroad has strengthened my patience and broadened my horizons.  It is as challenging as it is exciting.  Each day I learn more about myself and different people from around the world.  Any one who has the opportunity to study abroad, I advise them to take the chance and look forward to an adventure.

Last 10 days...
Posted by: Maryn on April 16, 2007

We are down to the last 10 days of the program.  Almost four months have gone by.  We had a week-long break for Semana Santa which all the students spent traveling to different countries in Europe and Africa.  I travelled with three other girls to Italy and Greece.

In Italy we visited Cinqua Terre which is a group of five small Spanish towns located in the mountains along the Italian west coast. We spent 3 days hiking from hostel to hostel from town to town.  There were pathways up the mountains that were made of mostly stairs.  It was a lot of work to make it to the top but the view of the blue Mediterranean was amazing.  After Cinqua Terre we went to Milan and from there to Athens.

In Athens we visited the Acropolis.  At night they shine bright lights on the ruins which you can see from down below in the city.  It was beautiful.  The next day we went to a small city called Nafplio.  We road in a horse and buggy around the small coastal town and stopped to enjoy some gelato in the sunshine.

Spring break was a lot of fun.  When we got back it was time to write essays and prepare presentations for the end of the semester.  I can hardly believe that the semester is almost over!

As I look back at my experience studying abroad I realize that I have learned a lot about myself.  I have gained patience and confidence.  Learning about a different country's history, government, and culture has made me realize how little I know about my own.  It has given me the desire to learn more about my own country's history and give more of my attention to important issues around the world.
