 2008/2009 Graduation Fair Information:

 
  • Alumni Development – Students will have access to an "alumni" wingate.edu email address after graduation (August)!  You will be able to stay in contact with your classmates and receive alumni news!  Please contact Heather Horne at 704-233-8120 or hhorne@wingate.edu for more information.  Register today!

  • Business Office – Make sure your balance is cleared prior to Dec. 5th for December Graduates and April 27 for May/August Graduates.  Please contact the Business Office at 704-233-8211 for more information regarding your balance. 

  • Career Development - The Office of Internships and Career Development is available to assist you with your resume, interview skills, and graduate school information.   Visit the Career Development website for upcoming events/workshops that will help prepare you for life after Wingate.

  • Financial Planning – If you have a student loan, you MUST complete exit loan paperwork.  You can complete your exit loan counseling at www.mappingyourfuture.org or by stopping by the Financial Planning Office.  Please complete this information by April 1.  For more information, please contact the Financial Planning Office at 704-233-8209. 

  • Herff Jones, Inc. – If you would like to order personalized announcements (that include your name, degree, major, etc.), please do so SOON!  You may go on-line at www.herffjones.com/college to order your personalized announcements.  You may also order your class ring and other "graduation items" through Herff Jones.  Once you log onto Herff Jones' website, click on Wingate University to view our announcements.  Our representative’s name is Deborah Forrest.  Please allow enough time to process your order and to mail your announcements to your family and friends.  (It generally takes 3-4 weeks to process an order.) 

  • Library – The Library staff conducted a survey from the attendees to make the library a better place for everyone.

  • Registrar's Office - Laura West is verifying spelling of names for diplomas and the Commencement program.  A packet of information was given to attendees which included:  general information letter, helpful websites, Graduation Checklist, Frequently Asked Questions, and a Transcript Request Form.  If you were unable to attend, this packet has been mailed to you.  If you have any questions/concerns regarding your degree audit or Commencement, please contact Laura West at 704-233-8393 or lwest@wingate.edu.

Caps and gowns may be purchased from the Campus Bookstore from April 1 through May 8 (please do not to wait until May 8). Please see Cindy Jordan in the Bookstore or contact her at 704-233-8025 or jordan@wingate.edu.  She will need your height and estimated weight for sizing purposes.  If you plan on participating in Baccalaureate, you will need your cap and gown by Thursday, April 23.  Undergraduate students will purchase a "Bachelor's" gown; masters students will purchase a "Master's gown"; and Pharmacy Students will purchase the "Pharmacy Doctoral" package.  If you need your cap and gown shipped to you, please allow enough time for shipment.

Reminder of Important Dates for Commencement 2008:

*  April 23 – Baccalaureate – 9:00 a.m. – McGee Theatre – wear your cap and gown (Optional - Lyceum credit given!)

*  May 8 – Senior Brunch and Graduation Practice (Recommended that you attend Graduation Practice if possible).  The Senior Brunch is usually at 9:00 a.m., and Graduation Practice usually starts around 10:00 a.m. and lasts until around noon.

*  May 9 – COMMENCEMENT!!!  The ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Graduating students will line up between the Library and Wingate Baptist Church at 8:00 a.m.  Graduate Education and MBA students will receive their graduate hoods at an event prior to Commencement morning.  Pharmacy students will also receive their hoods at a hooding ceremony prior to Commencement ceremony.
