grade points ÷ credit hours attempted = grade point average
Credit hours:
In general, the
number of credit hours awarded for each class is determined by
how often and how long it meets over the course of a semester.
Most commonly, courses are worth three credit hours.
Grade points:
Note: grade points
are sometimes called quality points -- these two terms mean the
same thing
Wingate uses the
following scale:
|
A |
4
grade points |
|
B |
3
grade points |
|
C |
2
grade points |
|
D |
1

|
F |
0
grade points |
·
Note that plusses (+) and minuses (-) do not
affect the above grade point scale.
·
Grades of "W" or "P" do not affect the GPA
Grade points (see
above table) are multiplied with the number of hours a class is
worth for the total grade points.

Take your total number of grade points and divide this sum by
your total number of hours attempted. This is your GPA.
See "How
to read a transcript" for an explanation of how to calculate
a SEMESTER GPA versus a CUMULATIVE GPA.
