Taking classes at another university (Transient Study)
Transient study refers to a Wingate University student taking
classes somewhere else to transfer back in to Wingate, usually
over the summer. Students must get advance permission from the
Registrar before taking classes elsewhere. Permission is
obtained by filling out the transient
study form, which the Registrar will sign if the course or
courses are approved. A copy of the signed form will be sent to
the student indicating that approval has been given. Other
conditions that apply:
-
A student must have a cumulative 2.00 GPA
to take a course at another institution and transfer that credit
to Wingate University.
-
The last 30 hours of a student's coursework
must be taken at Wingate University.
-
No grade below a "C" will be accepted as
transfer credit.
-
Coursework taken at another institution
will not raise the Wingate average. It will, however, be
considered when calculating honors at graduation and for
inclusion in certain honor societies.
-
Transfer credit cannot substitute for a
course that a student has previously failed at Wingate.
Students may print a copy of the transient study form via the
link above or get one from the Office of the Registrar. The
Registrar will attempt to return the transient study form to the
student within 48 hours of its receipt.
Once the form is
downloaded and filled out, please fax to 704-233-8125
or mail to:
