TRANSFER STUDENT CREDIT
 |
Academic work completed at other accredited colleges and
universities will be accepted at full value for courses passed with
a grade of “C” or better provided they are comparable to Wingate
University’s curriculum. The Registrar, in consultation with the
appropriate department chair(s), evaluates coursework to determine
equivalency. The maximum number of course hours that may transfer
from a two-year institution is 64 semester hours. A maximum of 90
semester hours will be accepted from four-year institutions.
To complete a transfer evaluation, the Office of the Registrar
will need official copies of transcripts from all previous colleges
and universities attended. Advanced Placement and other types of
credit-by-examination will be evaluated according to Wingate's
established guidelines. Scores must come from The
College Board or other
official source (see below). These official academic records or
test scores should be sent to the Office of Admissions before the
student enrolls at Wingate.
North Carolina
Community Colleges...................................................
Wingate University has signed an articulation agreement with
North Carolina Community Colleges. Students who complete an A.A. or
A.S. degree will have many of those credits apply to Wingate's GER
(general education requirements). See the
Comprehensive Articulation Agreement
(CAA) for more information. All NC community colleges share a
common course numbering system. Our NC community college
Transfer Guide outlines
many of the credits that will transfer to Wingate.
AP Credit...........................................................................................
Scores of "3" or better are generally accepted on AP exams for
Wingate credit. Individual departments determine minimum scores and
amount/type of credit awarded. Our
AP Credit Guide outlines
current tests/scores and Wingate course equivalents.
CLEP
Credit.......................................................................................
Scores of 50 or higher on subject exams of the College Level
Examination Programs generally receive Wingate credit. Please see
our
CLEP Guide for specific
equivalents as determined by individual departments.
DANTES
Credit..................................................................................
Scores that rank the student in at least the 50th percentile of
the testing group on DANTES Subject Standardized Tests generally
receive Wingate credit. Please see our
DANTES Guide for specific
equivalents as determined by individual departments.
International Baccalaureate
Credit.......................................................
Individual departments will consider IB credit if the student has
earned a minimum score of 5 on a Higher Level Examination. A copy
of the syllabus for each subject passed at this level will be
submitted to the appropriate department.
Other Colleges and
Universities............................................................
Credit earned from other regionally-accredited universities will
be evaluated on a course-by-course basis for equivalency with
Wingate courses. Questions about equivalency are directed to
individual departments if a questions arises. In some cases, the
student may be requested to provide a course description; a notation
to this effect will appear on the transfer evaluation.
Credit earned at colleges and universities that are not
regionally-accredited will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis
by individual departments. Students will need to provide course
syllabi, a catalog, and other information as requested for
departmental
evaluation.
