NCUR STUDENT CONFERENCE & CUR PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION

National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR®)
The mission of the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR®) is to promote undergraduate research scholarship and creative activity done in partnership with faculty or other mentors as a vital component of higher education.  Salisbury University will host the 22nd National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR®), April 9-12, 2008.  About 2,000 undergraduates from more than 250 colleges and universities will attend the three-day event.

Dates and Deadlines for NCUR 2008

  • Call for Applications and Abstracts - October 5, 2007

  • Deadline for Applications and Abstracts - December 1, 2007

  • Notification of decision on Abstracts - January 25, 2008

  • Deadline for Conference Registration - February 22, 2007

  • Hotel Reservation Deadline - March 7, 2008

Five Wingate University students have been accepted to present research at the 2008 conference at Salisbury University.

  • Mr. Adam Raskoskie:  "Thomas Hardy and the Trauma of War"

  • Ms. Amber Funderburk: “A Structural Analysis of Union County's Economy"

  • Mr. Matthew Hogge: "Bob Dylan and the Folk Music Tradition"

  • Mr. Brenton Smith:  "Advances in the Synthesis of 4-HYDROXYMELLEIN"

  • Ms. Alexis Randazzo: "The Immovability of Truth"

Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR)
The mission of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is to support and promote high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship. The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) and its affiliated colleges, universities, and individuals share a focus on providing undergraduate research opportunities for faculty and students at predominantly undergraduate institutions.

CUR believes that faculty members enhance their teaching and contribution to society by remaining active in research and by involving undergraduates in research. The Council on Undergraduate Research, founded in 1978, is a national organization of individual and institutional members representing over 900 colleges and universities.
