Career Advising
Information about how you can plan for your future career
What is Career Planning and Why is it Important?
Career planning is a process where individuals evaluate their values, interests, abilities, and personality to determine what kind of occupations they would enjoy. Career planning is a lifelong process that involves reflection about what someone has accomplished and requires goal setting for the future. It is an important process because it provides direction for one’s future.
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person will make. Planning for your career can easily get lost in the day-to-day life of college students. In addition, choosing your career may be an overwhelming process; however, it becomes manageable with intentional planning and guidance from professionals and experts you trust. These professionals may be professors, parents, friends, or a career advisor.
Each Wingate University student is assigned a Career Advisor based on the student’s major.
