In the International Studies Office in the Alumni Building, we understand what it’s like to live far away from home. Personally, I studied abroad in Seville, Spain for a semester and I worked in Japan for two years. I know how difficult it can be to make friends in a new place, to figure out how to find the resources you need and how to use them, and what it’s like to miss things, people and food from home. I met so many wonderful people while I was outside the United States, and I am thrilled to be in a position to serve you in the same way others assisted me abroad.
What can our office do to help you? We specialize in the services you need such as:
- International Student Orientation
- Explaining F-1 visa benefits and regulations
- Advising on how to maintain your F1 visa status
- Assist with processing official documents and requests
- How to work off-campus with authorization
- Information on your health insurance
- Transferring in or out of Wingate University
- Cultural adjustment concerns
- How to obtain a Social Security number and NC Driver’s License
- Signing your I-20 to travel outside the United States
- Advising on any other matters that you need help with
- Providing you with software access to file your taxes by April 15 each year
