Sport Management Overview

Wingate University fosters student diversity and individuality while offering students close, personal attention in small classes. Faculty members serve as mentors both in and out of the classroom, advising students on their future career paths.

As a sport management major, you will have the opportunity to learn about the various career options in the sport industry. Our program is very "hands-on" and majors obtain event planning experience during their freshman year. Students will also gain direct experience during a six credit-hour internship between their junior and senior year. The internship helps prepare students for the transition from college to the workplace.

The Wingate University Sport Management Program has been granted candidacy status for national accreditation by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation. Formal recognition is anticipated after the site visit in 2012. The program is also approved under the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.

For those who prefer to continue their studies, Wingate’s master’s program in sport administration offers the educational background needed to work as an athletic administrator either in public schools or higher education settings, or in professional sport and recreation settings.

Graduate Opportunities
Wingate University's Master of Sport Administration program is designed for students who have earned an undergraduate degree in any field and who aspire to work in the sport industry's public or private sectors with an emphasis on athletic administration.
