Brass Symposium

The Wingate University Department of Music presents a BRASS SYMPOSIUM with special guests, Canadian Brass.

DETAILED SCHEDULE:
9 a.m. - All participants will divide by instrument for group warm-ups with Wingate faculty and other professional musicians.
10 a.m. - Master class with Canadian Brass on the "Fundamentals of Proper Brass Playing and Musicianship."
11 a.m. - Break-out sessions divided by instrument with Canadian Brass members on "What Every (insert your instrument here) Player Should Know" and "Successful Audition Tips." This session will include tips on playing the N.C. All-State solos.
12 p.m. Lunch (on your own - various restaurants in the Wingate and Monroe area). Take this time also to visit Music and Arts exhibits.
1:30 p.m. - Master class with Canadian Brass on "How to be a Successful Chamber Musician," featuring the Wingate University Brass Quintet and a guest group*.
2:30 p.m. - Last chance to visit the Music and Arts exhibits.

*If you have a brass quintet that would like to be considered for performing during the Brass Quintet master class, please send a recording of the current group to Dr. Dawn Perry at P.O. Box 159, Music Department, Wingate, N.C. 28174 or email the file to d.perry@wingate.edu

**PLEASE NOTE: Participants in the Brass Symposium are eligible for discounted tickets to the Canadian Brass Holiday Concert on December 7, 2012.
