There are four important electronic accounts: the Campus Network, Campus E-mail (also known as Wingate WebMail), Moodle, and IRISLink. IRISLink information was provided in the letter from the Registrar. This page deals with access to the Campus Network, WebMail and Moodle.

The Network Account

The network account allows one to log onto to the computers on campus and to access various University Data Services such as library Log-in Dialog Boxcourse reserves. The letter from the Registrar included your e-mail address. Your account name (also called a username or userid) is the part of your e-mail address that comes before "@wingate.edu." For instance, if your e-mail address is stu@wingate.edu, your username would be stu. The network password is set to match your student ID number.

All users in the Wingate University Network belong to a Domain. Most users are in the ACAD (pronounced aCAD) domain. Pharmacy students are in the PHARM domain. To access certain restricted areas of the Wingate Campus Network (e.g. restricted areas of www.wingate.edu or library course reserves), you will need to specify the domain. This is done by prefixing the domain to your username and separating the two with a backslash. For instance, if one's username is stu, one would place ACAD\ before the userid, i.e., ACAD\stu.

There is more information, see the Help Page for Campus Networks.

The E-mail Account

Your Wingate WebMail account has the following features:

  • A mailbox size of 50 MB
  • The ability to send attachments up to 3 MB
  • The ability to create mailboxes
  • The ability to filter mail and redirect it
  • An address book
  • A calendar

As with your network account, your userid is the part of your address that comes before "@wingate.edu" and your password is the same as your student ID number. The instructions below should be enough to get one started on using the Web-based e-mail system.

  • Point your browser to http://mail.wingate.edu:8383
  • Enter your Wingate University user id and e-mail password
  • To view your mail, click on the hyperlink that corresponds to a mailbox. All mail initially arrives in your Inbox.
  • Always remember to Log Off your e-mail when you are done.
