Why a Master's Degree in Accounting?
A Master's Degree in Accounting creates a competitive advantage in the job market as most CPA firms tend to hire
 candidates with advanced degrees. The degree meets states requirements which are the completion of 150 credit hours of graduate and undergraduate level accounting courses as qualification to sit for the CPA exam. The degree develops critical skills essential in the job market.
What are the advantages of earning a Wingate Master of Accounting degree?
The Porter B. Byrum School of Business is nationally accredited by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) and the school is accredited by SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools). The program is offered as a one or two year program with the completion of ten courses. Courses offer during the day, Monday – Thursday with small class sizes and a talented faculty.

What are the prerequisites to the Master of Accounting program?
Prerequisites are Principles of Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Federal Income Taxes and Auditing. These prerequisites can be completed at Wingate or at other institutions with certain limitations.

Do I have to have a major in accounting?

No. The profession appreciates a wide variety of backgrounds at Wingate. Common majors that fit the program well are business, finance, math, chemistry-business and sport management but any major could fit as long as you have completed the prerequisite coursework and have a commitment and the ability to succeed in the program.

I graduated a few years ago and am interested in returning to complete the Master of Accounting program. What is the next step?
If you have the pre-requisites but need a review of those courses, you make take a review session in our accounting lab.

What computer technology is required?
It is recommended that students have access to current technology (including high speed internet access) at home and/or at work (with consent of your employer, of course). Laptop computers equipped with wireless capability are required.

What computer skills are necessary?
A solid working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software is essential to getting the most out of your educational experience at Wingate. We have found that most business organizations use the Microsoft suite of office products (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Is there financial assistance available?

Wingate University participates in all federal and state financial aid programs. Information about financial planning may be obtained from the Office of Financial Planning. Wingate University cooperates with students and employers in tuition-reimbursement programs. Also, monthly payment plans may be arranged through the University.
