How to Apply for Financial Aid at Wingate University
Applying for financial aid can be a confusing process. We offer this page as a brief guide to help you understand how to apply for financial aid and what happens with your aid package and when. Remember, you must be an admitted student at Wingate University and have filed the FAFSA before we can calculate an award package for you.
File the FAFSA: All students should complete the current year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal Application. Applications may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA no later than May 1 of each year. Remember to include Wingate University’s school code (002985) on the FAFSA.
How Long? After your FAFSA has been processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). The Financial Planning Office at Wingate will receive the Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) approximately 10 - 14 days after your FAFSA is submitted. Upon receipt of that ISIR, and notification of your acceptance to Wingate University, the Financial Planning Office will generate your financial aid award package.
Award Package: Your award package will outline the various types of aid for which you may qualify. This may include a combination of need based grants and/or federal student loan eligibility.
Verification: If you are selected for verification, the Financial Planning Office will notify you of any additional documentation needed to finalize your award package. You can obtain detailed information about the Verification process at http://www.wingate.edu/financial-planning/verification.
Response: It is important to provide all information to the Financial Planning Office by the required deadlines to ensure your grant and/or loan funds will be available to you when you begin classes. Students must return one signed copy of the award letter along with any additional requested documents within thirty days or by May 1 whichever is the latest.

Monthly Payment Plans
Wingate University realizes that educational expenses are easier to budget when spread over monthly payments. The Interest-Free Wingate University Payment Plan allows you to meet all or part of the year’s expenses in eight equal monthly payments. This extra time to pay limits borrowing and conserves savings.
Wingate University makes this service available interest-free. This reduces your cost to only a $60 enrollment fee, paid once each year. This nonrefundable enrollment fee covers all costs for the secure handling of your payments.
You may call the business office at (704) 233-8211 for additional information. The University also accepts payments on VISA, Discover, or MasterCard.
