Must I have an undergraduate Sport Management degree to be accepted? Do I need to take prerequisites before entering the program?
No. The program is designed for students who have earned an undergraduate degree in any field and aspire for a career in sport management.
Does the MASM program accept transfer credit?
Currently the program may accept up to six hours of transfer credit from an accredited college or university, to be determined by the Program Director on a case-by-case basis.
How long will it take to earn my degree?
Normally, it will take a student 4 semesters and a summer (both sessions) to complete the degree requisites. For example, a student entering the program in Fall 2014 should complete all course requirements by May 2016.
I currently work full-time in the sport industry. Am I required to complete an internship?
No. While the internship option is strongly recommended, students currently working in the industry may take an additional elective at the discretion of the Program Director.
Are there Graduate Assistantships available?
Yes. Wingate University offers a limited number of graduate assistantships through Wingate University Athletic Department, Campus Recreation and Student Life. Please contact the School of Sport Sciences for more information.
Can I have a full-time job and make the program work into my schedule?
Yes, the program was designed to accommodate the schedules of full-time professionals who wish to pursue a career in sport management. All of the classes meet in the evenings (6:00-9:00 in Fall/Spring; 5:30-9:00 in Summer) and are offered at the Wingate University Ballantyne campus in Charlotte, NC.
When should I apply?
Admission into the MASM program is competitive. Applicant files must be complete before a decision can be made regarding admission; therefore, it is critical that students apply early and complete all admission requirements in a timely manner.
