about STUDENT AFFAIRS

“Learning is
a complex holistic, multi-centric activity that occurs throughout
and across the college experience.”
Learning Reconsidered
Invitation from the Dean
The 2006-2007 academic year is an exciting time in
the life of Wingate University. The institution is experiencing
growth and excellence on many fronts including academics, athletics,
and student enrollment. As success internally breeds interest in the
institution, applications have increased significantly from previous
years.
Student Affairs is sharing in the institutional
momentum as students and programs are experiencing success.
Participation and creativity are increasing while student and staff
leadership is moving forward with renewed enthusiasm. At the heart
of this movement is the Student Affairs vision and curriculum that
centers on learning,
development, collaboration, and engagement.
Student Affairs believes that students will learn
through active participation in their education. Marking this shift
is a focus on seamless learning – learning that takes place both in
and out-of-class. This learning moves educational outcomes beyond
knowledge to a greater perspective of personal growth, skill
enhancement, and
ethical development. In this process Student Affairs creates
learning opportunities to shape the student experience.
In our effort to define and outline specific
measures to strengthen the Student Affairs philosophy and mission
please join the Division of Student Affairs as it partners with
students to move with purpose into the 21st century.
Sincerely,

Doug Searcy, Dean of Student Affairs
