Destination and Mission:
The purpose of the first leadership year is to instill a foundation for future campus and community leaders. As the first of a four year leadership development experience, students are given the chance to develop skill, knowledge, and experiences essential for life-long leadership development. The first leadership year is designed to enhance leadership skills and potential; foster interpersonal, social, ethical and moral development; and promote involvement through an active learning environment. Participants  have the opportunity to achieve potential and transmit knowledge to the Wingate University community.

OUTCOMES:
The first leadership year will encourage participants to:
• Identify and understand leadership tendencies and personality factors of the self and others
• Clearly articulate a leadership vision
• Explain the art of delegation
• Understand the importance of listening
• Describe community building and techniques
• Identify ways to motivate your team
• Encourage mature conflict resolution
• Understand the role of diversity in leadership
