Commuters

There are several areas on campus commuting students can go to relax between classes.  The Dickson-Palmer Student Center (DPC) and the Jefferson Clubhouse is two great locations for students to take a break.  Another location is in Bridges Business Building room 106 on the first floor.

There are various study opportunities for all learning types located in the Library. Study carrels, which provide complete privacy, are located in The Quiet Room where talking is prohibited. The Haskins Room and Mezzanine are areas available for quiet, group study and the Reference Department offers a variety of study options.

The university maintains the regular schedule of classes throughout the semester. Classes are not canceled due to inclement weather (i.e., snow, sleet) and students are responsible for all the work of any class meeting missed for any reason.  Please watch the University Homepage for any updates or call 704-845-4111 to reach the Inclement Weather Hotline for more information.

All commuters are strongly encouraged to get a campus mail box.  Announcements regarding lyceum schedules, athletic events, student activities, and important information from faculty/staff/administration are placed in campus mail boxes.  All you have to do to sign up for a campus mail box is stop by the campus mail room, which is located in the Dickson-Palmer Student Center.

Where do I get a parking decal?
First-time students should register their vehicles at financial check-in on Friday - the second day of orientation.

Returning students will register vehicles on Monday at returning students financial check-in.  If you are unable to register your vehicle at these times, please go to the Goodman Campus Services Center located beside of Helms Residence Hall.

Required information for registration is: residence hall & room number, social security number, driver's license number, license tag information, and vehicle description (make, model, year, color, and vehicle identification number).  The parking decal must be displayed at all time.  There is no charge for a parking decal.

Where should I park?
All restricted student parking lots are clearly marked by letter.  Commuting students should park only in those areas marked with a "C."  Several "C"  permit lots are adjacent to the Batte Fine Arts Center.  Additional parking is beside LaVerne Banquet Hall and the lower lots at the Stegall Administration Building.
