ORIENTATION MISSION AND GOALS

The Orientation Program provides opportunities for parents and students to become acquainted with the culture and operations of Wingate University. The program seeks to educate new students and provide information and activities to allow them to gain a sense of community. Specifically, the goals for the program are:
Overall

  • Introduce and familiarize students with various services, procedures, facilities, resources, and involvement opportunities.
  • Connect new students with Wingate University and one another
    Set a tone for future success.

Academic

  • Establish role of academia and faculty.
  • Present and explain to students the University’s Honor Code.
  • Provide academic services for students that include placement testing, advising, and discussion of fall schedules.

Student life

  • Provide opportunities for new students to build relationships with peers, orientation leaders, faculty and staff.
  • Create a hospitable and comforting environment that promotes excitement and alleviates anxiety.
  • Encourage students to get involved in University life.
