purpose

The purpose of the Wingate University Parent Council is to promote continued parental involvement to encourage the successful completion of our students’ challenging and meaningful Wingate University journey by sharing our common interest communicating with and supporting each other and striving for a greater understanding of the traditions and mission of Wingate University.

 

goals

The sustaining goals of The Wingate University Parent Council are:

A.     to create a welcoming community by promoting an effective   relationship between parents and the University for the benefit of students and the University community;

B.     to assist the University in achieving its mission by encouraging parents to voluntarily contribute time, effort, support and ideas;

C.     to support university sponsored programs including but not limited to admissions, student affairs, career development, annual giving and parent relations; and

D.     to encourage open, on-going and comfortable channels of communications for all.

membership

Membership in the Parent Council is by invitation of the Director of Parent Relations and candidates shall be identified by active Parent Council members and the Director of Parent Relations. Unless otherwise determined by the Director of Parent Relations, no prospective Parent Council member shall be offered membership on the Parent Council until his/her student is in his/her second semester at Wingate University. Members shall serve one year terms and continued membership is in the discretion of the Director of Parent Relations. While only parents/guardians of students enrolled at the University are eligible for membership on the Parent Council, the Parent Council may extend an invitation to parents/guardians of a graduated student to serve for a designated period following the graduation of their student. Membership of the Parent Council should consist of 20 to 25 sets of parents.
