OUR MISSION

UCAN stands for University Community Assistance Network.  It is the only campus organization devoted solely to community service.  It is not a club that you have to join.  There are no membership dues or eligibility requirements.  UCAN is student-run, so its life depends on the energy, imagination, and commitment of students!  In life ,remember to smile we are making a difference in peoples lives!!!!!

Our Purpose...

UCAN's purpose is to demonstrate our desire to help by serving the needs of the campus and larger community.  We also seek to facilitate cooperation among campus organizations in our service efforts.  We have a goal of educating students, faculty and staff about the social concerns of our society and empowering them to make a difference by doing your education.  In doing this, we are living out and inspiring a life time commitment to the ideals emblazoned on the Wingate University Seal:

FAITH , KNOWLEDGE, AND SERVICE

U CAN. . .
Mentor a youth
Motivate disabled workers
Promote recycling
Participate in Special Olympics
Walk to stop hunger
Play games with children who have special needs
Donate items to Goodwill

How Can U get Involved

UCAN has many levels of involvement.  You may devote an hour or two a week to an ongoing service opportunity, or U CAN volunteer for one-time projects.  We will work with your schedule.  U may also bring your ideas for service to us, and we can help plan the project -- maybe some project you were involved with at home.  Just go to the Volunteer Interest Form on the web or stop by the UCAN office (Office 133), which is located across from the post office to pick up a form.
