The Wingate University DMSc bridge is a fully online and asynchronous program for recent PA graduates to obtain a clinical doctorate.

  • Classes start in August.
  • Tuition for the 2024-2025 academic year is $900/credit hour or $19,800 for 22 hours (complete program).
  • The degree awarded will be a Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc).
  • Students will transfer 28 credit hours from their PA master's degree.
  • The program is accredited by the Southern Association Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
  • The first cohort started in August 2024.

Mission

To prepare entry-level PAs for evidence-based practice in the areas of leadership, advocacy, scholarship and education. 

 

Admission Requirements

Successful applicants will have: 

  • Obtained a Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited PA program in 12 months before starting the DMSc program.
  • A GPA of 3.2 or higher in their PA program. 
  • A letter of support from the program director, associate director, or director of clinical education. 
  • Certification through NCCPA 

Students carry over 28 credit hours from ARC-PA required rotations (SCPE) and then complete an additional 22 credit hours over 12 months.

  • Provide continued development in the areas of leadership, communication, and scholarly activity for entry-level physician assistants.
  • Support recent graduates in their dedication to lifelong learning
  • Allow entry-level physician assistants to build upon their research education/experience and apply that knowledge to an impactful scholarly project
  • Provide a fundamental understanding of healthcare leadership that allows graduates to become difference-makers within the systems and communities they serve.
  • Support the university’s dedication to providing graduates with the knowledge and experience that best prepares them for upward mobility within their profession and healthcare organization.
