MPH Dual Degrees
Fast-track your way to two degrees in five years.
Earn a four-year bachelor’s and a two-year master’s degree in public health in just five years on our accelerated 4+1 track to give yourself a competitive edge in the public health/healthcare workforce. Once you graduate, you’ll be able to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam.
Choosing 4 + 1
Once you’ve enrolled in Wingate’s bachelor’s program, you can apply to 4+1 the semester before starting your senior year (typically spring of junior year). Application deadlines are April 1 and Nov. 1. Admission criteria for early entry into the master’s program:
- Complete a minimum of 90 credit hours by end of junior year.
- GPA of 3.25 or higher on public health major coursework as identified in the Academic Catalog.
- Able to articulate Statement of Intent for enrolling.
- GRE is waived for Wingate University BSPH students
You’ll complete your bachelor’s requirements - public health curriculum, major required courses and restricted electives - in three and half years as outlined in the academic plan (link) so you can dive into online master’s courses during the second semester of your fourth year.
During the third year of the program, you’ll engage in community-based laboratory work learning how to interact with data science concepts. In the fourth and fifth years, you’ll interact with influential community partners to gain practical firsthand experience, putting into practice what you’ve learned in the classroom.
With a dual degree in public health, you will be prepared to enter the workforce at a higher level and able to handle greater responsibility within the field, putting you in a position to earn more and advance more quickly. The Wingate public health program will prepare you to work in a variety of jobs such as health educator, public health analyst, public health advisor, health program coordinator, program evaluator, research scientist, social service manager, policy analyst, data analyst, health service director and more.
