The Wingate University program is an accredited program. Our faculty strives to meet and surpass these goals:

Goal #1

Provide a comprehensive education that ensures graduates possess core knowledge in established and evolving biomedical and clinical sciences and can apply this knowledge to decision-making in clinical practice.

Analysis and Discussion

PAEA End of Curriculum Exam: This goal was not met. While most of the 2023-2025 classes exceeded the national average, the program failed to meet its lofty goal of 75% or more of the class scoring above the national average in 2025. Despite this, the program has a continued goal of 75% of the cohort scoring above the national average.
NCCPA PANCE: This goal was met. The program continues to exceed the national average for first-time PANCE takers and carries a 5-year average of 97%.
Graduate Survey: This goal was met. 100% of graduates agreed that the program provided comprehensive education that ensures graduates possess core knowledge in established and evolving biomedical and clinical sciences and can apply this knowledge to decision-making in clinical practice.

Strong objective evidence of excellent knowledge and clinical application (especially PANCE performance), but the program’s very ambitious internal PAEA EOC threshold (75%) has not been reached in recent classes. Graduates themselves feel uniformly well-prepared. The program acknowledges the shortfall on the PAEA metric, but has chosen to retain the 75% target.

Goal #2

Provide a range of didactic and clinical experiences to best prepare graduates to care for a diverse patient population.

Measure and Benchmark

At least 50% of didactic courses will include instruction on diverse populations. (Documented as course Learning Outcome or Instructional Objective)
100% student participation in at least 2 health equity events.
≥90% of graduates agree that the program curriculum includes instruction that prepares students to provide medical care to patients from diverse populations.

Analysis and Discussion

Didactic: This goal was met. 54% of didactic courses provided instruction on caring for diverse patient populations, evidenced by course outcomes and instructional objectives.
Health Equity: This goal was met. 100% of students participated in at least two health equity events while in the program.
Curriculum: This goal was met. 100% of the Class of 2025 agrees that the program curriculum includes instruction that prepares students to provide medical care to patients from diverse populations.

All components of this goal are consistently met or exceeded. The program slightly exceeds its own 50% didactic threshold and has perfected student participation in health equity programming. Graduates overwhelmingly feel prepared to care for diverse patients.

Goal #3

Provide graduates with a strong foundation in health information technology, evidence-based medicine, and quality improvement practices that allow them to enter the healthcare workforce successfully.

Very strong performance across the board. The program comfortably meets or exceeds all metrics in evidence-based medicine, research, and quality-improvement preparation.

Goal #4

Provide instruction and experiences that allow students to demonstrate collaboration as part of an Interprofessional, patient-centered team.

Measure and Benchmark

100% of the cohort participates in ≥3 Interprofessional events throughout the didactic year (1^st 3 semesters).
≥90% of the cohort successfully complete both clinical year IPE projects on their first attempt.
≥90% of graduates agree that the PA Program curriculum includes instruction that prepares students to work collaboratively in Interprofessional patient-centered teams.

IPE events: This goal has been met since adding IPE events and Health Science IPE courses involving the other Health Science Programs.
IPE Assignments: This goal has been met since adding IPE events and Health Science IPE courses involving the other Health Science Programs.
Graduate Survey: This goal has been met for the last three graduating cohorts.

Since formalizing IPE events and integrating Health Science interprofessional courses, the program has achieved near-perfect results. Participation and performance are essentially 100%, and graduates feel extremely well-prepared for team-based practice.
