Who is HPAW for?

Current and prospective students who show an interest and aptitude for a career in the health sciences.
High school students in health science academies
Students in majors such as: biology, chemistry, public health, exercise science, nursing
Students enrolled in one of Wingate's Health Sciences Pre-Professional Programs, Advantage Programs or Early Assurance Programs

What is hpaw?

HPAW mentors will assist your with clarifying your dreams and intentions so that choosing a career path in the health sciences will be articulated and planned
Assist with organizing required volunteer hours
Professional exam preparation
Timelines and pacing of course work and clinicals
Provide you with summer internships, co-curricular opportunities, speakers, job shadowing, field trips and access to current Wingate graduate students in similar programs.

HPAW Signature Summer Internship Program

The HPAW Office at Wingate University is proud to host the Signature Summer Internship Program. This program is designed for upperclassmen preparing to enter graduate-level health programs. This includes students interested in medicine, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and public health.

Students selected for this competitive opportunity will spend 4–10 weeks during the summer working with healthcare professionals at Atrium or Novant locations. Participants will engage in a mix of administrative and clinical work, commit to 20–24 hours of work per week, and earn approximately $17 per hour.
