Assistance Animal Accommodations

Please note that the approval process of an Animal Accommodations may not result in a single room accommodation in regard to housing assignments. The Office of Disability Support Services does not make housing assignments. 

Students who would like to explore receiving an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) accommodation or registering their Service Animal.

Service Animal

Any student with a disability shall be permitted to have his or her Service Animal accompany him or her to all campus facilities that are generally open to students, faculty and staff, including residence halls. Service animals are defined as a dog that is trained to work or perform tasks

Students who are bring their Service Animals to campus, please register (Service Animal Registration) 30 days prior to the animal arriving on campus

Emotional Support Animal (ESA)

An ESA is defined as an animal that works, provides assistance, or performs tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, or provides emotional support that alleviates one or more identified symptoms or effects of a student’s disability.


Three Step Process

Step 1: Complete the New Assistance Animal Accommodations Request (New Assistance Animal Request)

Step 2: Upload any documentation that verifies your disability or condition. If you do not have any documentation or paperwork, you may download Disability Verification Form to be completed by a specialist.  Be sure to review the General Documentation Guidelines.

Step 3: Participate in an interactive conversation about your request to determine whether reasonable accommodations are necessary and appropriate.
